1986年和1989年在武汉大学物理系获学士和硕士学位。1998年在华中科技大学获博士学位。 先后在香港中文大学, 美国Nevada大学及香港浸会大学做访问研究。获2000年全国优秀博士学位论文奖, 2001年湖北省自然科学二等奖。连续主持五项国家自然科学基金项目。为Physical Review Letters 及Physical Review B的评审人。主要从事低维功能材料及理论凝聚态物理方面的研究工作, 研究兴趣包括低维磁性材料及强关联电子系统(包括晶格模型及量子点、量子线)中的量子相变及磁、电等输运性质。
