报告摘要:

Artificial intelligence(AI)consists of agents or computer algorithms that automatically lean from past experience to perform predictions or classifications. AI is evolving rapidly and promises to transform the world in an unprecedented way. The tremendous possibilities that AI can bring to medical research and management have triggered a flood of activities in the development and clinical applications of the technology. Particularly, with the support of big data and accelerated computation, deep learning is taking off with tremendous algorithmic innovations and powerful neural network models. Given the immense learning tools and massive computational resources that are becoming readily available, it is believed that AI will dramatically change the landscape of cancer research and clinical practice in the near future. In this talk I will present a broad overall of medical AI and address the questions on how to prepare the community to the new era of AI-powered medicine and to harness the enormous potential afforded by the AI to improve our patient care is becoming an urgent issue. I will describe the state of the art AI technologies and their applications in cancer research and management. The clinical, technical and ethical challenges that need to be addressed before we can confidently rely on AI for patient care will also be discussed.
