报告摘要:
Researchers face increasing pressures from funders, universities and journals to make an impact. But how is impact defined, measured and how can you make and argue for it? In this interactive seminar I will discuss these issues from three different perspectives.
First, I will set the context by looking at how impact is defined and measured. Second, using insights from cognitive sciences I’ll explain why story is vital in any type of science communications, including scientific papers. Third, I will provide an overview of recent developments in how research is done and disseminated, including: ethical issues; transparency, openness and open science/data; changes in the science publishing arena; and insights into the editorial processes at high-impact journals.
