报告题目：Unravelling the High-Energy Proton Structure with Lattice QCD

In high-energy scattering experiments, the proton can be approximated by the simple parton model that emerges in the infinite momentum frame. Parton distributions are the most important observables for us to understand the proton structure at high energy, but they are difficult to calculate from first principle approaches, especially lattice QCD. Recent years has seen fast development of the large momentum effective theory (LaMET) which allows a direct calculation of parton distributions in lattice QCD. In this talk, I will describe the formalism of LaMET, and explain how we can perform a systematic calculation of the parton distributions with controlled precision.
Dr. Yong Zhao received his BS (2010) from Wuhan University and Ph.D from University of Maryland, College Park (2015). He worked as a postdoc fellow in University of Maryland, College Park and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from Sep. 2015 to Aug. 2016 and has been working as a postdoc fellow in Massachusetts Institute of Technology from Sep. 2016. He got 2016 First Prize of the Excellent Achievement Award for Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (Science and Technology) of China (2016年度高等学校科学研究自然科学奖一等奖) and 2013-2014 JSA/Jefferson Lab Graduate Fellowship. His current research interests are QCD and hadronic structures.
