     Professor Zhengyou Liu received his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees from Wuhan University in 1986, 1989 and 1993 respectively. He joined the Physics Department of Wuhan University in 2001 as a professor, before that he held the positions of lecturer, associate professor and professor successively at the Physics Department of South China University of Technology. From 1996 to 1999, he mainly worked at the Physics Department of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as a visiting scholar.
Professor Liu was honored as the professor under the Cheung Kong Scholars Programme of the Ministry of Education of China in 2001, and granted the China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists in 2004. In 2010, He was awarded the State Natural Science Prize of the 2nd grade, China.
Professor Liu's main research areas include Metamaterials, Phononic and photonic crystals, Quasicrystal physics, Electrorheological Fluids and Complex media.
